Windswept Life

Am I a cloud in the Sky?
Blown by the wind.
Up so high...
Maybe it's why I like the rain so much.
It brings me back down to earth.

Stay.

It's almost time to go
Off to nowhere, out of sight, route sixty six
The pieces of everything packed away into little boxes
All seven of them
Okay, they're not so little...
...and not quite in pieces...
These parts of bits of facets of pictures of my life
They echo in the recesses of my thoughts
Printing themselves with the silkscreen that are my choices
It's almost time to go
It's gonna be bumpy, just a little winding road, I know
This time is the right time to write time right I'm sure
Those distant memories that remind me of those times
We were so much
We were nothing
And that made us special
It made us timeless
It's almost time to go
On with the spectacle that is our lives
Those bonds we chose to sever
In the wake of our misspent youth
We built our moats of sweet dry moss
And set them ablaze
These foolish towers of innocence and salvation
There's no going back anymore

It's almost time to go
Closing time, final stop, end of the line
There are things in our lives we can't control
Those little pieces packed away
Finds their way to coalesce
Mending shattered reflections with broken glass
It's time for me to go

But I don't want to leave.
