So I apologized profusedly to Mark and Carolyn today for fucking up 2 days in a row. "The guys in the back" (Mikey, Mark, and Guill) were hella cool about it. Guill punched me, I deserved it. Mark and Mikey didn't care. At all. I love them all.
Lesson 1: Even if you think you fucked up hella bad in front of 400 people, there's always someone else who thinks they fucked up moreso than you did.
I forgot my phone going to Ohlone today. That hella sucked. Everyone who said they were going to show up today didn't. Not a single one. That sucked hella more. People were studying, had church, had parents, had car trouble, had homework, had "personal issues." Fine. I just perfer it if people told me ahead of time and not just...not show up. Mark's words of wisdom: "Man, people can always put off shit like studying and homework, being friends isn't about me-me-me, it's about us-us-us."
Lesson 2: Understand where everyone else is coming from, but don't ever forget where you set your own boundries, because those are the ones that matter most.
Denise brought her sister and both of them brought their kids. I got kicked in the shins. Kids kick really, really hard. I picked one up completely off the floor and locked his arms and legs. Denise said I make a good father and that she shold hire me to babysit sometime.
Lesson 3: Earn extra credit by wrangling your teacher's adolescent children.
So I fucked up bad on the recording. I told Ricky (Box Office/Jazz performer). He said that we all looked really good, and that I had good emotion, and that he didn't see me screw up. He also said that it's alright to stand out in Hiphop and Jazz, since it's not ballet, where if 1 person is thrown off, everyone else is too. No one notices unless you screw up major.
Lesson 4: The best encouragement comes from people you barely know since they can't judge you for what they already know of you.
I need to learn to be a better person, I know, but I seriously shouldn't be the only one to have to.
